Road Trip

Well, the road trip to Nebraska is over, I had a really great time. I was a little apprehensive about meeting her friends and staying at one of their houses. We left town Saturday morning and I wanted to stop at my best friends house so that he could meet the squeeze. I tried to call him but no answer, I figured we would just stop over, he was not home. We started down the interstate on the way to Norfolk, NE. We arrived in town and stopped at the grocery store to get supper to grill and some beverages. We got to her friends house and started to talk and what not, I got along with Teresa and her boyfriend Martin. We had a nice supper then we started to play games and party. The next morning B and I woke up well before the home owners, we got out of bed and as we were walking out to the kitchen we discovered that the three dogs had left their calling cards in the living room, we decided to let them out to see if they needed to finish their business. As we were going to let one out at a time, they all bolted through the door and were gone. Holy shit, Teresa is going to kill us is the first thought that we had. I went down the road and tried to get them to come back, but they were determined to make a break for it. The pack mentality had set in and it was all over. The situation was bleak, but for some reason we started laughing about it. The first thought that came to my mind was we would never be invited back. Well we lost sight of the three dogs as they disappeared into the corn field. We discussed what to do, and it was decided that we would drive around to the other side of the highschool and try to get ahead of them and bring them back. We walked inside and as I happened into the kitchen, I discovered that the male cat ran into the house when the dogs made the great escape, this would not normally be a problem except for the fact that their female cat was nursing kittens that are about four weeks old and happens to be back in heat. I walked in on a tender moment. Oh shit! I peeled the male cat off momma and really started to laugh. I put the cat outside and B came out of the room with the keys and was ready to go and asked why I was laughing so hard. I remember saying " Get all of our stuff, we need to leave here now! " I explained that I had just broken up the lovers tryst. She about lost it. Well we took a nice drive looking for the dogs, they were nowhere to be found. After about 30 - 45 minutes of driving around, we decided to head back to the house and wake up Martin and Teresa and enlist the help of the owners to try and re aquire their pets. When we pulled up to the house, I caught a glimpse of the dogs at the end of the street, I pointed them out and we bailed out of the car and started shaking the bag of Beggin' Strips that we brought for bait, they came running. They were all wet and nasty from their running. We were glad they were back and we didn't have to tell Teresa that we lost her dogs. We did not tell them about the escape or the possible next set of kittens that they will be seeing. After they got up, we hung out there for awhile longer and then went to see B's friend Ben. Ben is a draftsman, but he also raises snakes. His Corn Snakes have just laid 20 eggs and B is going to get one of the offspring when they hatch. We helped Ben feed all of his snakes yesterday. The old Lady does seem to be a little scared of them and would not hold any of the larger snakes, I did have some fun with that. She should be alright and had no problems feeding the dead pinky mice to the snakes. When we left we had the drive home. We are already thinking about when we will go back down.
